Eulis Merle Cathey, Jr. ’71 Award Fund

Eulis Merle Cathey Jr. holds a special place in the hearts of the Class of 1971 - and in the history of Nichols School. One of the first Black students to attend Nichols, Eulis was the first minority student elected class president and the first to captain the basketball and track teams. He was also a frequent soloist with the Glee Club and the Nicholodeans.

Eulis went on to become a renowned ambassador for American jazz, distinguishing himself as a radio broadcaster, music producer, and record company executive.

With your support, this special fund will provide an annual award in Eulis’s name to expand future educational opportunities for a Nichols junior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in music. Thanks to you, his memory will continue to inspire the performance and appreciation of music at Nichols School.
